Front Porch Re-coat
This porch gets a lot of use and it was starting to show it. The treads were scuffed, the rail spindles were dull, and the skirt boards and storage hatch had faded unevenly. The goal was a uniform finish that stands up to traffic and ties in with the brick and white trim.
We started with a pressure wash then scuff sanded the high-wear areas so the new finish would lay smooth. Small chips were scraped back to sound material. Because we’re using a stain there’s no priming necessary and after the prep is done we can get straight to work.
The goal here was to refresh porch and increase its durability for next winter. Now the surface has the protection it needed for daily use, and because the porch is covered we can expect it to last exceptionally long.
If you want to keep your deck or fence in good condition it’s important to get it re-stained every two to three years. This way you can avoid spending on larger repairs, and keep it looking fresh all year round.
